It seems like everywhere you go, people are talking about CBD, especially on social media. Whether you’ve incorporated CBD into your wellness routine or are thinking about adding it to your routine but don’t know where to start, knowing the basics will help determine what products are best for your needs.
At Plenty Wellness, education and safety always comes first when it comes to CBD. Our goal is to make sure our customers are informed about CBD, especially in such an uncontrolled market.
With that in mind, here are five things everyone should know about CBD.
CBD is short of Cannabidiol and is one of over 150 naturally-occurring compounds found in the Cannabis Sativa plant, which is grown in two different ways.
1. Industrial Hemp – Has less than 0.3% THC content and is a federally legal agricultural crop in the United States.
2. Marijuana – Has up to 30% THC content and in higher amounts, it causes the “high” feeling.
Note: THC is the psychoactive part of cannabis but in such low amounts like it is in CBD, it won’t cause the intoxicating “high” effect.
Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds that interact with the receptors in our Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which plays a crucial role in regulating sleep, inflammation, mood, and homeostatis.
The human body naturally produces cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids, and CBD and cannabinoids from Cannabis Sativa plants are called phytocannabinoids. These help us make more of our own cannabinoids.
There are hundreds of independent research studies on CBD, from its effects on regulating mood and substance abuse orders to improving chronic insomnia and the hardening of bone post fracture.
While clinical CBD research is still very recent, new studies are published frequently.
CBD is just one of 150 naturally-occurring compounds in Cannabis Sativa and when there are multiple compounds in CBD, it’s considered full-spectrum.
Full-spectrum CBD products are more effective than pure CBD alone. The combined chemical reaction is known as an “ensemble effect,” which mans they give each other a boost and work to achieve their goal.
Think of CBD as a vitamin, when you use it every day, it works better. It may take some experimenting to find your perfect CBD dose, but once you do, the effects will be much more noticeable.
At Plenty Wellness, we always suggest starting with CBD oil or CBD soft gels. If you’ve never taken CBD before or need some assistance with getting started, stop into our Loveland, CO store or give us a call so we can help!
